Jonathan AKA Jonbob is the man behind the myth. He started the Simple Portrait Project in 2008 almost by accident. What began as an excuse to avoid doing family portraits has become a greatly anticipated tradition serving hundreds of families a year.
Jonbob is a master of portrait making. Though he spends the rest of the year traveling the world drawing out people’s personalities for a wide array of organizations and companies, he looks forward to TSPP each fall. He has an amazing attention to detail and he thrives on the fast paced challenge. Somehow in each 20-minute slot, Jon manages to draw out and capture the unique essence and personality of each family that comes in.
Hi, I'm Jessica and I'm a Louisville-based photographer specializing in editorial and commercial photography. My work has appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post and dozens of other publications, and my pictures have been recognized by the Best of Photojournalism competition, Associated Press Media Editors, the California Newspaper Publishers Association and the Nevada Press Association. I love shooting a variety of subjects but portraiture being my passion. Please feel free to send me a line, even if it's just to say hello.
Tony is a Cincy native and lives here with his wife, 2 kids, and 2 dogs. He’s been working with the camera for most of his life- he taught himself to use a camera at age 9 and earned a BFA at Georgetown in 1982. He spent 10 years learning the ropes with simple photography before diving into what he likes to call “creating moments”. And thus, his passion emerged. Tony's work could be described as humorous, off-the-wall and colorful. His eye for creating visual interest and his extreme creativity and passion make him an excellent fit for tSPP. We are thrilled to have him join the team this year and we know you will be too.
Steve hails from the Rocky Mountains via Colorado Springs where he lives with his wife and 4 children. As his last name may suggest, he and Jonbob share both a childhood and a love for the camera. Steve has over 9 years of experience and is most known for his beautiful work capturing weddings and families as well as documenting projects around the world. We're so glad to have him back for another year!
To be a photographer with The Simple Portrait project you need to be chill, patient, and over the top talented. Jeremy Kramer fits that bill. He made the jump into professional photography in 2009, and in the short time since then, his clients have included Amazon.com, Her Magazine, and OATW, among others. JK was invited to join The Simple Portrait Project because he has a unique gift with the camera, and if you are lucky enough to have Jeremy work with your crew, people who see your photos will think that you have a unique gift with the camera, too.
